Many patients know to call us at Maine Family Planning when something’s up — you have an uncomfortable symptom, you missed your period, you had unprotected sex. (Our number is 207-922-3222 and we often can offer same-day appointments.)

But did you know you can call us when everything’s going fine — and we can help you keep it that way?

Call us or go online to book your Annual Wellness Visit at one of MFP’s 18 clinics statewide. At a wellness visit, you’ll meet with one of our expert nurse practitioners (NP) to review your overall health and reproductive plans, identify risks, and find out how to stay healthy.

What Happens at a Wellness Visit

At your wellness visit, which typically takes around 30 minutes, your NP will talk with you about:

  • your current health
  • your family health history
  • past illnesses and surgeries
  • recommended screenings like pap tests and mammograms
  • your reproductive plans
  • your birth control options
  • preconception planning
  • risks you may have for specific conditions
  • how to maintain a healthy lifestyle

We offer non-judgmental, affordable, and confidential care to all. Maine Family Planning clinics take many forms of insurance and MaineCare. If a service is not covered by your insurance, or you don’t have insurance, our sliding fee scale is used to lower your cost.

The Annual Wellness Visit is a great way to get peace of mind about your health. And, if you don’t have a primary care provider, MFP’s wellness visits allow you to check in with a medical professional — at the same place you go to pick up your birth control!
